Salt Lake City Moose blows out Missoula Maulers, 5-2

Salt Lake City Moose had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over Missoula Maulers.

Salt Lake City Moose got the win behind a great game by Martin Tolkner, who had two goals and one assist. Tolkner scored the first of his two goals at 19:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Salt Lake City Moose. Viktors Ponatovskis assisted on the tally. Tolkner's next tally made the score 5-2 Salt Lake City Moose with 30 seconds left in the third period.

Adam Kresl also scored for Salt Lake City Moose. Other players who recorded assists for Salt Lake City Moose were David Barnes, Tommy Breitfuss, Matthew Morse, and Hank Parra, who contributed one a piece.

Missoula Maulers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Missoula Maulers finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Missoula Maulers' offense rang up 35 shots on Salt Lake City Moose's net.

Missoula Maulers was led by Corey Schafer, who tallied one goal and one assist. Schafer scored on the power play 19:09 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Salt Lake City Moose. Missoula Maulers had gained a power play chance when Barnes was whistled for slashing. Joey Porco provided the assist. Missoula Maulers also got a goal from Joey Sundgren as well.

Brad Robertson recorded 33 saves for Salt Lake City Moose. Salt Lake City Moose incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michael Mcdaniel made 22 saves for Missoula Maulers on 26 shots. Missoula Maulers registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
